Arbitrage-free exchange rate ensembles over a general trade network
It is assumed that under suitable economic and information-theoretic conditions, market exchange rates are free from arbitrage. Commodity markets in which trades occur over a complete graph are shown to be trivial. We therefore examine the vector space of no-arbitrage exchange rate ensembles over an arbitrary connected undirected graph. Consideration is given for the minimal information for det...
متن کاملReal Effective Exchange Rate and Trade Performance in Iran
The Purpose of this paper is to investigate the long-run effect of real effective exchange rate on Iran non-oil trade balance. The methodology is based on ARDL procedure that can be applied irrespective of whether the regressors are I(0) or I(1). The results show the real depreciation has not a favorable long - run effect on the non-oil trade balance of Iran from 1979 to 2001.
متن کاملThe Impact of Exchange Rate shocks on Trade Balance of Iran: A Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium Approach
The trade balance is one of the most important macroeconomic topics and one of the strategic macroeconomic constraints for developing countries. The exchange rate is recognized as one of the key factors affecting the trade balance of countries. Exchange rate fluctuations, which causes the fluctuations in relative prices, by destabilizing the economic conditions and increasing the inflation woul...
متن کاملModeling Real Exchange Rate Persistence in Chile
The long and persistent swings in the real exchange rate have for a long time puzzled economists. Recent models built on imperfect knowledge economics seem to provide a theoretical explanation for this persistence. Empirical results, based on a cointegrated vector autoregressive (CVAR) model, provide evidence of error-increasing behavior in prices and interest rates, which is consistent with th...
متن کاملTrade Liberalization and International Competitiveness in Iran: An Application of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) Model
Trade liberalization is often the core attention of foreign economic strategies in developing countries. Findings in the literature confirm a significant effect of free trade on developing economies through which the economic sectors benefit from technology transfer and spillovers and increasing production capacities and input productivity leading to international competitiveness. On the other...
